Santa Fe Downtown Merchants Association is a non-profit organization of independent local businesses. Our members meet stringent criteria and provide quality shopping, dining, and touring in the Land of Enchantment. The romance of the old west, our rich cultural heritage, and high desert climate make Santa Fe an amazing destination.

From the time of the ancient Anazasi, the Santa Fe area has been a trading center. The Santa Fe Trail is synonymous with the romance of the old west, and from the time of New Mexico statehood in 1912, Santa Fe has been a multicultural art center and shoppers’ paradise.

Santa Fe is a top US art center, with museums, shopping, Year-round outdoor activities, top flight restaurants, spas, and world famous cultural events. It’s not just your grandparents’ Santa Fe, it’s walkable, historic, charming, and exciting – a high desert destination of distinction and fun.

Santa Fe hosts the finest in Native American arts. Make sure any gallery you visit is an IACA member, the regulations covering disclosure of methods, material, and origins of Native American arts are highly regulated for artist and consumer protection.

Santa Fe has traditionally been home to many fine jewelers and remains so to this day. Smart shoppers know: your receipt should reflect the fineness of the metal–sterling silver, 14, 18, 22 carat gold, or platinum. Huge ongoing sale offers are often “too good to be true.” Your receipt or appraisal should reflect any treatment of a stone or the fact that it is natural. We recommend that you shop with our members, as they are all required to adhere to strict criteria, and sign an ethics pledge. Any business should be happy to offer you a statement of authenticity. If you have a problem with an item you have purchased, we recommend that you contact the New Mexico Consumer Protection Agency at (800) 678- 1508 or on the web: www.nmag.gov. Below are some helpful Contacts. We hope you enjoy your time in Santa Fe!
